Dean | D.C. Democrat calls Howard Dean supporter "poor white trash"

"White people don't understand our issues."

Is this racism?

If yes, is racism in this instance morally or legally wrong?

If yes to any of the above, isn't this the official position of the national Democratic Party - i.e., they support "affirmative action" (which inevitably results in preferential treatment based on race)?

Note: the new committee member causing the controversy appears to be a Howard Dean supporter. Is this evidence that African-Americans are less likely to support Howard Dean?

Ah, the famous big democratic tent strikes again. This from the party that has systematically blocked or assassinated the character of every minority candidate or judge their opposition has championed for the last twenty years. Tote the line we want and you can go as far as you want in America, step a toe over the line and its back to the fields.

The D.C. Democrats are having a hard time with
the fact that when they had their big shin-dig
here last month to tout the DC Democratic
Primary, only Rev. Al Sharpton showed up out
of the whole pack. Wish I had the links to
the WaPo editorials about that one!

Needless to say the whining and wanking was
at full volume about how DC couldn’t get any
respect from the Democrats even when they
were the Dem’s most faithful supporters.

One wonders when they’ll catch on to the fact
that they being taken for granted by the
Democratic party.

Oh look what this is really talking about:

Ward 8 Democrats Shelve Official’s Ouster Over Slur
‘White Trash’ Remark Decried by Group’s Leader

In a meeting that erupted into a shouting match, members of the Ward 8 Democrats voted yesterday to table a motion to remove the group’s first vice president from office for calling a new member “poor white trash.”

p.s.-I really am unimpressed by Bush putting up some really objectionable judge candidate and then having democrat’s very principalled objections being called bigotry.

So the point of the article was that this guy couldnt be voted out of the party at this meeting for making the comment- becouse there was a procedure for doing do in the bylaws that had to be followed- and lots of drama ensued. The article also had this nugget:
Eugene Dewitt Kinlow, president of the political organization, read aloud a statement disassociating the group from the slur used by Mary Cuthbert at a meeting last month.

“These comments are embarrassing,” Kinlow said. “Our party welcomes everyone. We are aware there are increasing tensions between newcomers . . . and blacks and whites in our ward, as in other wards across the city.”

In contrast lets remember Dick Chehney voted against a resolution calling for Nelson Mandela’s release from prison. Oh and lets not forget Republican standard bearer Strom Thurmund who couldnt admit that he had fathered a daughter with a black woman…
