2004 US Presidential Election
December 14, 2003
| Not the Opposition, the Enemy
I'm Australian, not American. I'm a Liberal, not a Democrat, and opposed to the Republicans (All three labels have different meanings here). But even I can see that the US Democrats are in a parlous state. Truly dire. As witnessed by some comments on the Official Democrats Site : Well, tha capture of Sadaam takes the 'failure to capture' issue off the table. They're not the Opposition, they're the Enemy. And they're becoming increasingly out of touch with reality and facts. For example, the next post: Marsh - I do not believe one single US life was worth the capture of this guy. He did nothing to the US - and the Iraqi people have shown they would prefer to have him there, than to have US occupation for years to come.We live in times where "All are for the Party, and none are for the State" to misquote Macaulay. Where can the majority of people who normally vote Democrat turn to when their party is being run by such as these? An excerpt from the Poem I (mis)quoted reads: Then none was for a party; We can't afford this Avian Excrement after 9/11. A healthy democracy demands a healthy opposition, not the type of Lunacy that sees every Victory for Democracy as a Defeat for Democrats. I want to leave Michigan because I don’t want to be associated with Liberals. I want to surround myself in a city, town, state that is filled to the brim with conservatives. I don’t care if they don’t like President Bush. I have my grievances with him too. All I care is to be with conservatives. I am utterly sick and tired of hearing liberals muttering, “I hate Bush. I hate War. I hate Teacher’s Dirty Looks.” I am sick and tired of metrosexuals. Sick and tired of Feminiazis an spineless Men. I am tired of MEN who can’t stand up for themselves to the point where I have to stand up FOR THEM. I am tired of liberals. I have had it up to here. I want to leave Michigan. I don’t know where to go. I want to leave:-( Posted by: Jeff MacMillan at December 15, 2003 12:47 AM Take a look at today’s Andrew Sullivan postings. He has created a new "award" called the Galloway Award (for thinly veiled disappointment at the capture of Saddam). He has no fewer than ten nominees today, leading off with a brainless twit called Carrie B., who worries that this will cost the Democrats (or at least Howard Dean) the election. Posted by: gus3 at December 15, 2003 08:33 AM The Party that Prays for Disaster will just have to wait for another day. I personally hope they never get what they want. Their brand of cynical negativism deserves squat. Posted by: torpedo_eight at December 15, 2003 09:06 AM Thank you, Andrew. How sad. Pathetic does not begin to describe those people. Posted by: johnnymozart at December 15, 2003 01:35 PM Indeed, those are some very sad quotes. These people are so caught up in their war against Bush that they can’t give any congratulations to the men and women who finally tracked him down. This was a major positive milestone, and anyone who says otherwise obviously has another agenda beyond bringing stability and democracy to Iraq. The most disturbing was, of course, the woman who was primarily concerned that this real-world event meant her fantasy candidate now had no chance of winning, because the people (gasp!) will choose Bush. No, she won’t accept that as a natural product of our Democracy, but will continue to hate Bush… remember, Democracy only works when it agrees with their worldview… Posted by: Dalex at December 15, 2003 07:41 PM And the slander lives on! Why I remember back in the mid 1990’s when GOPAC, Newt Gingrich’s captive PAC, issued a memo instructing Republicans to use the following words to describe Democrats: “sick, traitors, destructive, corrupt, bizarre, cheat, and steal.” Im going to leave you to your many pathetic delusions Senator McCarthy. Posted by: AnyonebutBush2004 at December 16, 2003 02:05 AM ‘many pathetic delusions Senator McCarthy’ - Anyone…. Like Alger Hiss and the Rosenbergs? If it walks like a Ba’athist and talks like a Ba’athist, then it must be a Dean supporter (or an ‘anti-war Euro-weenie). And Anyone…. they used 2 comments from the DNC board to ‘paint’ you. ‘You are right. Hussein’s capture doesn’t mean that much to me either. I know the Iraqi’s must be breathing a sigh of relief though. It doesn’t change that much of the real terrorism threat since he was contained to being a threat only to his own people. Now if we can do something about GWB and remove that threat from the world, we will have accomplished something. I know I need to be patient until next November for that. The impeach Bush movement is rolling but unless they impeach his whole regime, we’ll go from the frying pan into the fire with Cheney.’ - ‘Judi’ (emphasis added) And what have memebers of the Bush ADMINISTRATION done to be impeached? Perjury, suborned perjury, maybe? As for just those three comments, there are pages and pages of them on that site. We do not paint the Democrats as traitors, they paint themselves. (sorry for the long comment) Posted by: Eric Sivula at December 16, 2003 02:29 AM Alan, thanks for the poem. I use poetry as a sly end run around the “sensitivity” guidelines at work - sometimes I post something interesting outside my cubicle - hey, it’s only a poem, right? The stanza’s you clipped are definitely going up. My favorite is Auden: There Will Be No Peace Posted by: lewy14 at December 16, 2003 06:01 AM ///use the following words to describe Democrats: “sick, traitors, destructive, corrupt, bizarre, cheat, and steal.”/// Couldn’t have said it better myself, Bush 2004. Posted by: johnnymozart at December 16, 2003 02:14 PM I have to admit, ABB2004, w/ all the claims that come from your quarter about how this Democrat (McKinney) doesn’t speak for you and THAT Democrat (DU posters, DNC official web-log commentators) aren’t representative, who WOULD you consider representative of your Party? If I wanted to get a good snapshot of what the Dems stand for, whose stuff SHOULD I read? Well since you asked: On March 18, 2003 Bush wrote to congress requesting authorization to go to war in Iraq based in part on a false and untrue allegation of a connection to 9/11, as well as falsely stating that Iraq posed a threat to US security. Given what we know now I believe this constitutes perjury and an impeachable offense and given the facts and circumstances he should be impeached and removed from office. Text of a Letter from the President to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President Pro Tempore of the Senate March 18, 2003 Dear Mr. Speaker: (Dear Mr. President:) Consistent with section 3(b) of the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 (Public Law 107-243), and based on information available to me, including that in the enclosed document, I determine that: (1) reliance by the United States on further diplomatic and other peaceful means alone will neither (A) adequately protect the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq nor (B) likely lead to enforcement of all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq; and (2) acting pursuant to the Constitution and Public Law 107-243 is consistent with the United States and other countries continuing to take the necessary actions against international terrorists and terrorist organizations, including those nations, organizations, or persons who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001. Sincerely, GEORGE W. BUSH Posted by: AnyonebutBush2004 at December 17, 2003 12:02 AM False and untrue allegations? You’re a bit behind the times. And since when does “including” mean “strictly limited to”? Never mind. Go back to chanting “Plastic Turkey!” if it makes you feel better. Actually, you’d be on firmer ground for impeachment over that one. “George Bush knowingly forced US Servicemen to eat Depleted-Uranium-poisoned Genetically-Modified Plastic Turkey”. After all, Michael Moore said so. Posted by: Alan E Brain at December 17, 2003 01:23 AM ABB2K4; If Bush lied Clinton lied (about this too, I mean). Have you simply not heard any of this, or do you avert your eyes, plug your ears, and shout “I can’t hear you. I can’t hear you…” when this is raised? And how can you justify denouncing the direct pasting of a qoute as slander? Are you suggesting that this is in some way inconsistent with the tone of the average democrat-endorsing web site? It isn’t even inconsistent with the crap coming out of the major candidates’ mouths. Hopefully, when the democrats get their asses handed to them in november, they will recognize it for the wake-up call it is and do some house cleaning. Until then they can keep their wackos, and that’s their option. But don’t complain when people point out that the DNC is full of nut-cases. It’s full of nut-cases because the nut-cases feel welcome there, and feel they have a better chance of pushing their bizarre agendas forward with the Democrats than the Socialists / Greens, etc. If the Democratic party doesn’t like being characterised as bunch of paranoid lunatics, they should send the lunatics back to the fringe where they belong. Until then, I’m voting Republican. If you can clean up the party, maybe I’ll come back. Posted by: Warmonger at December 17, 2003 09:32 AM Bush 2004 is going to need a new handle. At the rate you’re going, you’re going to be AnybodybutRice2012 pretty soon. Good luck. Posted by: johnnymozart at December 17, 2003 12:42 PM I just read this ignorance: 1. Economy- is growing so fast even the most optimistic are suprised. 2. Deficit- Ok, got us there.. oh wait, aside from the war we’re actually being very good! 3. Corporate deals- This is called business. I chalk this up to the inately naive and socialistic bent of most commu… I mean democrats. Most of the so called ‘evil deals’ are really nothing more than bong-smoke. 4. Educational cutbacks- This is just plum-ignorant. All known facts and figures show that educational spending is going up, not down. Democrats are by-and-large filibustering reality. Facts and events are completely against what the Democrats are saying and doing; so much so that they’re moving off into la-la land. Only a minority like Lieberman are still tethered to the real world. If the democrats persist in this idiocy, it will be the death of the Democrat Party. No BS. As for Howie Dean, he’s already proven himself to be an opportunist who’ll say whatever he thinks people want to hear. That’s not leadership. That’s somebody who’s trying to get something out of you. Democrats, do yourselves a favor and look at the actions and words of your party over the last year. No consistency, no integrity, simply meaningless words spouted out at a given moment. You want to catch lying, conniving opportunistic politicians? Well just look at the Democratic Nominees. Posted by: Eric at December 17, 2003 02:35 PM Like Rush, you guys should stop taking drugs. 2 deficit- oh look its a deficit far into the future- as far as the eye can see. remember when Clinton was president and we had strong economic growth and paid off the deficit. Apparently when a republican is president fantasy is a good substitute for performance.. 3- corporate deals ?!? you mean for halliburton? so they can profit from american soldiers killed? Or do you mean poluters so they can polute and not clean up their polution??? or maybe calling 4- education- you mean like the cuts to ‘no child left behind?’ 5- jobs- and Bush’s program of loosing the most jobs of any president since the depresion! nice performance there Bush. Now why dont you guys tell us about last month when for once the number of jobs almost kept up the poplutation increase..almost though… 6 foreign policy- way to piss off every one on the planet Bush! 7 getting americans killed by terrorism- gee who was president on 9/11/01. Or while US citizens are being killed in Iraq… 8- and the lies, lies lies lies….. Posted by: AnyonebutBush2004 at December 17, 2003 04:08 PM lets remind ourselves what a big bunch of scum Republicans can be: These are the un-edited comments from a Republican Bill O’Reilly fan named Rick. He posted these comments on the oreilly-sucks.com message board. If I were a Republican I would be ashamed people in my party feel this way. Can you imagine what the Republicans would say if a Democrat said anyone who protested Clinton should be tortured and shot ? On 12-3-03 Rick made this posting: (Warning - Adult Language) Name: rick Message: Message To Unpatriotic Citizens And Socialist Scum. The war on terrorism is a war against fanatical, racist, sexist, backwards, oppressive mutants from hell. You anti-war morons should be ashamed of your overt displays of cowardice, ignorance, hypocrisy, anti-Americanism,anti-Semitism, and support for terrorists who would just as soon kill you than look at you. Word to the morons: Supporting Saddam Hussein or Yasser Arafat is anything but patriotic, and sympathizing with Al-Qaida is suicidal and sheer insanity. You babbling idiots rant and rave against racism, sexism and oppression, yet the Islamic neanderthals you support currently run, or used to run, the most racist, sexist and oppressive regimes on earth. Peace and justice my ass! You left-wing, so-called peaceniks DO NOT appreciate your freedoms or right to protest. You abuse the privilege and show no respect or appreciation for private property, our police forces, or the hundreds of thousands of soldiers who died defending your right to make complete asses of yourselves. Instead, you mock our great country’s honorable leaders and soldiers. You seditious dictator-worshipping asshats should take to the streets with your puppets and drum circles in Cuba, North Korea, Saudi Arabia or Iran and protest real oppression. Instead of the occasional arrest or tear-gassing, you logic impaired traitorous fools would be tortured and shot. Cowardly Stalinistas. We can ill afford to cede one inch of ground in the war on terror. If we waiver, terrorists will bring hijacking s, chemical weapons, suicide bombings and assassinations to our country with a vengeance. Yes, this war will be painful and costly. Yes, we will continue to suffer casualties. Terrorists and dictators dealt the hand and raised the stakes, we have to play the hand out and folding is not an option. The terrorist training camps shut down in Iraq may have saved you or one of your loved ones from a violent death in the near future. One of the detainees at Guantanamo could’ve been the one who hijacked a jet you were going to fly on. Think about that the next time any of you FEEL the urge to refer to President Bush as Hitler. Dumbasses. We must spare no expense in tracking down those who seek to destroy us. We must continue to seize terrorist assets and shut down their sources of financing. We must eradicate terrorists like we would rabies-infested vermin. We must increase weapons shipments and send more money to Israel. This is going to be a long fight, but inaction or appeasement is too nightmarish and foolhardy to consider. Neville Chamberlain pursued a policy of appeasement with Hitler and London got blitzed. Bill Clinton was too busy dodging illegal fundraising probes and other INTERal things, to be concerned with crazed hijackers who were plotting chaos and destruction. Inaction and failing to take these murderous freaks seriously brought us the WTC bombing, the U.S.S. Cole bombing, U.S. embassy bombings in Africa and the 9/11 tragedy. Those who seek to destroy us are not to be negotiated with, nor are they to be taken lightly; they are to be eliminated from the face of the earth with maximum firepower and malice - at any cost. I salute the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces and I salute President Bush and his administration for having the balls to take decisive action in the war on terrorism. And if any of you Leftist dolts still believe that Saddam had nothing to do with terrorism or Bush stole the election, go shoot yourselves now. To the paranoid Israel and America hating monkeys at Indymedia and D.U. To the socialist slime of MoveOn.org, A.N.S.W.E.R and the U.N. To Michael Moore, Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Barbara Streisand, Sheryl Crow, John Mellencamp, Ed ASSner and all ungrateful, un-patriotic and arrogant celebrities. To the buffoonish and hypocritical democratic presidential pretenders. To all the smelly hippies and black-clad, juvenile delinquent anarchists. To the terrorist worshippers of Al-Jezeera, AP, BBC, ABC, CBS, NBC,PBS, Guardian and Reuters. To the degenerate, pompous, anti-American professors at many of our nation’s colleges and universities, and all those who attempt to hinder our efforts or oppose us in this battle against pure evil: Kiss my grateful and freedom loving American ass. ——————- Then he returned on 12-5-03 and made this posting: Name: rick Message: she’s a slut ——————- Posted by: AnyonebutBush2004 at December 17, 2003 04:17 PM Folks, you’re watering a dead plant. Posted by: johnnymozart at December 17, 2003 05:35 PM What kills me is that Dean and his ilk in the Democratic party have actually— don’t laugh— they’ve actually pinned their chances of winning the presidency on Saddam having obeyed the UNSC pertaining to weapons of mass destruction, and having obeyed international law in regards to supporting terrorism. What are the odds??? Al Queda has been around for over a decade now and attacking US targets for almost as long. Seriously, Saddam being Saddam, what does the average Democrat think the odds are that Saddam has been a good boy in regards to WMD and international terrorism? If you ask me, they’re probably about the same odds that Bill Clinton doesn’t masturbate. What are they thinking??? U.S. officials and a leading Iraqi document expert tell Newsweek that the document is most likely a forgery — part of a thriving new trade in dubious Iraqi documents that has cropped up in the wake of the collapse of Saddam’s regime. ….Ironically, even the Iraqi National Congress of Ahmed Chalabi, which has been vocal in claiming ties between Al Qaeda and Saddam’s regime, was dismissive of the new Telegraph story. “The memo is clearly nonsense,” an INC spokesman told Newsweek. Contacted by Newsweek, the Sunday Telegraph’s Con Coughlin acknowledged that he could not prove the authenticity of the document. He said that while he got the memo about Mohammed Atta and Baghdad from a “senior” member of the Iraqi Governing Council who insisted it was “genuine,” he and his newspaper had “no way of verifying it. It’s our job as journalists to air these things and see what happens,” he said. Jeez, a fabrication, eh? Didn’t see that one coming, did we? Posted by: AnyonebutBush2004 at December 18, 2003 04:09 AM You don’t get it dude. What if it’s NOT? What if something else is found? For instance, n last weeks’ Time magazine they did a big write up about a group of guerrilas their reporters followed around. The guerillas showed the reporters what they claimed to be rockets with chemical warheads. The fact is, before the war the only link between Al Queda and Iraq that the administration claimed was one known Al Queda operative who received medical attention in Baghdad and Ansar al Islam in the north. That’s it. To date, they’ve found all sorts of things, from details of Al Queda meetings wtih IIS to Arabic translations of Al Queda field manuals, none of which was known or even expected before the war. And dude, they’ve barely scratched the surface in Iraq; they haven’t begun to find all the shit that that psychopath was into. And I don’t know about you, but I still haven’t heard a very convincing argument as to why Saddam would continue to give UNMOVIC the runaround if he DIDN‘T have any of these weapons. What was the point? He desperately wanted out from under the UN’s sanctions, why would he erect obstacles between him and his goal if he had nothing to hide? Don’t look now, but you guys have put all your eggs in Saddam’s basket. /jackson Posted by: jackson zed at December 18, 2003 10:03 AM AbB2004 : A widely publicized Iraqi document that purports to show that September 11 hijacker Mohammed Atta visited Baghdad in the summer of 2001 is probably a fabrication…. Didn’t see that one coming, did we? Speaking for myself… Nope. Pardon me, the egg on my face is dripping on the keyboard. I’m just about to post about it on the main site now.
