Clark | Clark May Be in Trouble

From the Washington Post:

Retired Gen. Wesley K. Clark may have violated federal election laws by discussing his presidential campaign during recent paid appearances, according to campaign finance experts.

Clark, a newcomer to presidential politics, touted his candidacy during paid appearances at DePauw University in Indiana and other campuses after he entered the presidential race on Sept. 17. Under the laws governing the financing of presidential campaigns, candidates cannot be paid by corporations, labor unions, individuals or even universities for campaign-related events. The Federal Election Commission (FEC) considers such paid political appearances akin to a financial contribution to a candidate.

I'm looking for text of the speech so that we can see for ourselves. More later.

Doh!

Clark needs handlers for his Handlers….

Can the Clintoon campaign coffers be that small?

Not bloody likely. Clark must be an Idiot.

On the second read, the spin gets even funnier.

May be in trouble? The guys been DOA since day one. Are the dems really going to run a guy who got his picture taken buddying up with a war criminal (swapping hats and whatnot)? Rove is salivating to run that ad, I can assure you.

If the Washington Post- the NYT’s sidekick- is running this, then perhaps the Clark trial balloon is being reeled in. Time to gin up the Draft Hillary movement.

I’m pulling for Clark. He’s gonna take it!

Posted by: GoClark at October 8, 2003 03:53 PM

I’m pulling for Hillary Clinton! She’s going to run at the last minute and in doing so litterally piss off all of her constituents that pinned their hopes already on a particular candidate.

The ‘draft Hillary’ movement is in full swing. Look out!

Unemployment dropping again. The Dow may well break 10,000 by the end of the month (if not this week).

My lunatic friends say; If all the Dems run are monkeys, Vote for the Chimp!

Sunami, they may yet get their wish…

Clark sure as hell didn’t wait too long to do his ‘Bustamante fade’. He’s already a June Bug on the windshield of Election 2004.

Clark is not even a Democrat. That says all that needs to be said about the Donks chances in ‘04. Say what you will about Hillery de’Bitch, she is to smart to get drafted for a kamakazi run in the forthcoming election. She is not a throw myself on the sword type. No Alamos for Hill-babe. Although I would love to be there when she flies to Arkansas to campaign. That sealed indictment will get unsealed pretty quick. Nothing like and indicted canidate to get the campaign off to a rollicking start. I can see the Ad now; “Vote for Hillery, so she can avoid going to Jail”. It does have a certain familiar ring to it. Have I mentioned yet the sad condition the Demorats are in nowdays? Terry needs a new job. I would suggest the local 7-11, but I doubt that he would pass either the security check or the drug screen.

Just keep watching the polls, folks. Clark’s doing Just Fine.

(I’m in Montana on the way h9ome after an extended stay in MN, so don’t have much time to chat. But ranked against Dubya, Clark still scores well enough to beat him. And here onlyh a few months ago, y’all were saying that the election was already over. That cold feeling in the pit of your stomach is justified.)

Heat wave in the mountains. Strange for this time of year.

Clark is a ruthless opportunist with no conscience and no principles. He is not a Democrat. He wanted to run as a Republican, but the job was taken. He would run as a martian if he had to to get on the ticket.

Will Democrats really vote for a general who tried to launch an attack on the Russians? A sudden convert who praised Bush and his administration to the skies in 2001? I doubt it.

I count the falling tears
They fall before my eyes
Seems like a thousand years
Since we broke the ties
I call you on the phone
But never get a rise
So sit there all alone
It’s time you realize …
