CA Recall | Huffington Might Drop Recall Bid

From SFGate:

Independent commentator Arianna Huffington said Monday she is strongly considering leaving the recall race, signaling a growing fear among the political left that Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger stands a good chance of becoming California's next governor.

Huffington, appearing at a campaign event in San Francisco, said she would decide as soon as today whether to urge her supporters to oppose the recall and possibly back Democratic Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante -- reflecting the view that in a close race, votes by progressives for Huffington and Green Party candidate Peter Camejo could help elect Schwarzenegger.

Good, everything I’ve seen her say or do made me shiver at the thought of her becoming governor.

My favorite part was during the debate last week… when she advocated funneling money from a prison construction bond to a general education fund. Bustamonte, who I’m not a big fan of because of his campaign finance no-nos, calmly pointed out that the money was for a specific purpose and can’t legally be rerouted.

Her response to criticism is to just become louder.

I, for one, will miss the special experience of closing one’s eyes and imagining a political debate between Conan the Barbarian and Lisa Douglas.
