CA Recall | Schwarzenegger Films Would Trigger FCC Equal Time Rule

What'chu talkin'bout, Willis? From the San Diego Union Tribune:

Films and television shows featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger and other celebrity candidates in California's gubernatorial recall election will likely not be broadcast in the state for the next few months so that stations can avoid having to give rival candidates equal time.

The airing of "Total Recall" or another Schwarzenegger film, or a repeat of a "Diff'rent Strokes" episode with Gary Coleman on broadcast television in California would trigger the Federal Communications Commission's equal time provision, allowing other candidates to demand the same amount of time.

give me a friggin break.
Hes not running around in the movies saying vote for me.. As a matter of fact he isnt saying anything.
This is a free country right? I’ll vote for who i want. I dont need the FCC getting involved telling me when I have had too much arnold. Why dont they get back to doing what the do best by spending our tax dollars telling us when and when we cannot say damn shit and bitch on tv and limiting the speed of 56k modems.

This episode only serves to underline the totally ridiculous nature of restricted speech that well-meaning morons have foisted on this country. Gary Coleman shows his fat little face in a 20-year old sit com and 247 people get to rebut. Rebut what? They all get a half hour to ask Willis “What chew talkin’ about?”

Institutional stupidity on this grand a scale is detrimental to government. It is detrimental to freedom, and it underlines the impossibility of “fairness” - a noble and unachievable goal which cannot be achieved by fiat or writ. Political correctness - pure crap - welcome to the FCC!!

Actually, I think the real danger is Mary Carey. If I were running for governor and pressing for equal time, I’d be hunting up whomever shows her porn.

All the world is now a PornMovie Stage, so why not? Wait until MissBehavin’ hears about this. Would this MissCarey have been the 69th OrganGrinder to join the race? Curiously speakin’, of course…

Ahh yes mary carey.. and i quote from her website: “Do you like my breasts? . . . A lot of guys tell me they really, really like my breasts. Which is great because I like them a lot too and I want you to see as much of them as possible. “

thank you mary but keep your mammaries to yourself.
