Dean | Candidates Argue Taxes

The 2004 Democratic hopefuls spent Monday night discussing how much of Bush's tax cuts should be repealed. Kerry, Kucinich, Mosley-Braun and Lieberman all agreed to repeal only those cuts effecting the rich, while Howard Dean lined up with Dick Gephardt and Al Sharpton to advocate reversing the Bush cuts across the board.

"I think it's very important that Democrats not promise more than we can deliver," Dean said. "We can deliver health care for every American, or we can have the tax cuts."
Are Dean's supporters still trying to convince the public and the pundits that he's a moderate?

I thought Dean was promising to balance the budget? Because you cant insure every American and balance the budget, no matter what you do to taxes. Wow the tax raising prowess of Walter Mondale combined with the peacenickness of George McGovern, this is going to be a fascinating election if Dean wins the primary!

Wow. There aren’t too many Americans out there who aren’t chomping at the bit spend every last cent they make to ensure EVERYONE has HEALTH CARE. Constitution, be damned, I think this is a real barn-burner for the democrats “Not only will we promise to increase your taxes, but we’re bringing back HillaryCare!!”

Perhaps I should stand aside so the millions of Americans “who don’t need a tax cut, nor do they want a tax cut” (Gephardt) don’t trample me into the ground rushing the voting booths.

Great job, stay on message!

Good point, let me jump out and be the first to say: I don’t need government health insurance, I dont want government health insurance. Only problem is I dont think Gephardt will let me opt out of the bill.

redundancy department of redundancy.

Democratic Candidate A) I want to do this but I want to stretch it out much more extreme than you, neener neener!

Good grief. What’s next? How about we kill off all of the Rich people, force everyone to depend on American Government, and place a cap on personal income allowed. Anyone earning more than 10,000 a year will have to donate the excess cash to Government.

Apparently the democrats have forgotten just how darn popular HillaryCare was. Proposed in 1993, it triggered the greatest exodus of incumbent democrats in the history of Congress (1994).

“Good intentions will always be pleaded for any assumption of power. The Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters.” - Daniel Webster

And the price of freedom is constant vigilance. Ladies and gentlemen, THEY‘RE BACK.

Makes me yearn for my copies of Atlas Shrugged, which is just as extreme in the other direction.

“I thought Dean was promising to balance the budget? Because you cant insure every American and balance the budget, no matter what you do to taxes.”

Dean has calculated the cost of providing every uninsured American with basic healthcare at $87 billion. Where have we heard that figure?

i think the us presidential election is really dumb..the wanna be presidents hitting on each others like little children fighting for toys. united states politics sucks. kerry is gonna be a big dissapointment-not to mention that bush is even worse. whole on whole, it doesn’t matter who’s gonna be president. the united states has created a whole lot of shit with it’s war on terrorism (which is nothing more than war on some poor imporvished 3rd world countries). justice? my ass.
