Clinton | Does the Media Yearn for a Gore/Clinton Ticket?

This CNN article notes the difficulty the nine democratic hopefuls have at getting attention, when Gore and Clinton seem to ooze it.

Consider this. Gore delivered a speech in New York Thursday criticizing Bush on everything from Iraq to the economy, echoing the same complaints that the nine candidates have been delivering to varying degrees during the last few months. And yet the cable news stations cut away to a live broadcast of Gore's speech, something they've rarely done with the nine candidates.

Even the first Democratic presidential debate sponsored by ABC News was delayed tape at the discretion of the local affiliates, or next day C-Span coverage.

In the meantime, the pundits breathlessly speculate about what would happen if Gore entered the race, even though his aides insist that he will not. The publication of Hillary Clinton's book, "Living History," provided even longer and more intense coverage, and fierce speculation that she's going to run for president one day.

Does the media want Hillary or Al to run? of course, and not just for political reasons either. So far the consensus is that Bush is going to easily step over any of the potential candidates, leading inevitably to a boring fall. Punditry will be unnecessary and journalists will be praying for scandal. Add Clinton or Gore and you have a political blockbuster.

Are you suggesting that the media is attempting to influence events in order to generate interest in their product?
Surely that could never happen.
Journalists are completely selfless.
They would never sacrifice their ethics to boost ratings.
Journalists have incredibly high standards of integrity.

Do the media year for anything?

No.

I’m glad you understand, Dishman!

News media types and journalists are so incredibly stuck up, snobbish, jerks, idiots, and of course closed minded fools. Even the college age, school newspaper, journalists are complete morons. Or at least they were at my college. Anything you bothered to try to get in the school news paper would be completely edited out so that it didn’t contain too much ‘Conservative’ ideas that conflicted with the editors.

The Media can lick my sweaty nut sack.

I just love saying that. :-)

In building your amazing Aqua application, one of the most important things to consider is the Dock. There are three things your app needs to be “Dock Compliant.” Now, I write this knowing that the Dock will be going through some major changes soon, but for the most part, these should still hold true.

Help! Did you include help tags in your applications? (I’d be lost without them.) Also, be sure to take extra time to develop your other help files. The Apple Help Viewer supports HTML, QuickTime, and also AppleScript. Take advantage of it! There isn’t anything I hate more than going to the Help menu and finding there isn’t any help.
