That’s exactly what I meant about this crop of democratic candidates turning into clowns.
Remember when the GOP ran Dole against Clinton in ‘96? They did it, knowing that Dole was “too extreme” even for a lot of Republicans to handle, a sort of token candidate because they needed to have SOMEONE.
This time, the dems will have nobody THEY can be “proud of” to run, against a good incumbent. All these guys are laughable, particularly in their pursuit of Bush(see article above).
Remember the poll posted here last week, that showed Hillary, whenever they had her in one, doubling and tripling all the other candidates? That says it all- and she’s not running, LOL.

Lets review SOME of the 2003 BUSH LIES:

“We’ve found the weapons of mass destruction”

“We went to war becouse Sadam wont let the weapons inspectors in.”

that the CIA didn’t doubt the uranium story until after he gave the speech (Bush’s position was at odds with those of his own aides, who acknowledged that the CIA raised doubts that Iraq sought to buy uranium from Niger more than four months before Bush’s speech.)

“Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised.”

“My jobs and growth plan would reduce tax rates for everyone who pays income tax,” (and of course it didnt)

Ari Fleischer, Bush’s mouthpiece additionally had these whoppers this year alone:

prisoners of war at Guantanamo were “receiving far far better treatment than they received in the life that they were living previously”

“[D]uring the campaign the president did not express, as you put it, disdain for nation-building” (which bush most certainly did)

Bush had to fly to that aircraft carrier becouse it was “hundreds of miles offshore” and too far for to use a helicopter. It turns out the Lincoln was 30 miles off shore.

And of course theres the rest of Bush’s administration:

‘the war will cost only 50-60 billion dollars.’ Oh yeah and the guy who said it would be 100 to 200 billion got fired.

So in response the numbscull crowd is saying its not as bad as Bill Clinton. Clinton lied about getting a blow job. Now you right wing apologists tell us that it doesnt matter that BUSH LIED TO THE COUNTRY about the need to go to war and got 137 americans killed already. Sure theres a difference. What Bush did is clearly much worse!

Bush campaigned on integrity, now your saying its okay that Bush lied becouse in comparison he’s not as big a liar as Clinton??? Or better yet, its okay that Bush lied becouse he was just repeating the gossip that the British reported to him??

In short, thanks for clarifying: The Buck no longer stops here, it stops in england. And if you see clinton, thats where it stops since this is still obviously his fault. Way to have integrity bush! Way to have integrity republicans!!

To repeat myself (which I must do after being archived): in 2002, everyone agreed that Saddam had to go. Democrats and republcans voted to give Bush the power to wage war (though constitutionally that was impossible - don’t ask). In other words, many of the dems today who are saying we went to war under false pretenses knew with damning certainty in 2002 that Saddam needed to go.

What changed? We still have the testimony of those who worked on his WMDs, chemical, biological, and nuclear. We know (because Saddam’s people told the UN) that Iraq possessed sarin, tabun, VX, mustard gas and blistering agents. This wasn’t faulty intelligence, this was a document filed with the UN by the government of Iraq. We know Iraq would have had their Big Gun built and pointed at Israel if German and Mossad intelligence hadn’t interrrupted the final shipments from Germany. We know Iraq would have enough fissionable material for several A-bombs if Israel hadn’t bombed their French-built reactor in 1981.

In the face of such overwhelming evidence, EVEN a majority of the democratic party in Congress voted to oust this guy LAST YEAR. Don’ t think VX isn’t one of the “most lethal weapons ever devised”? Then I have some perfume for you.

What’s changed? The war is over and the campaign has begun. Democrats are behaving like democrats. They will now abandon all their pre-war “united front” crap and hope we all forgot they gave the go-ahead on this war.

“I was tricked, tricked into believing Iraq was a threat. And Bush tricked me, that liar!! There were NEVER any WMDs!! We killed all those innocent boys for nothing! Iraq was harmless.”

Here’s a quick question: Your cars transmission starts making an occasional horrible sound when your driving. You bring it to a mechanic. The mechanic says : “This is an emergency and youve got to deal with this problem and replace this transmission right this second or you will seriously regret it.” It costs 2 grand. On his warnings you spend the money. Later your old tranmission is being autopsied. Turns out that while it made the horrible sounds, it may never have broken! And it turns out that your mechanic knew this. Your out 2 grand that you could ill afford.
Do you ever go back to that mechanic? Or do you call the cops and press charges for FRAUD because thats what it is? Would it have made a difference if the mechanic had said ‘Replacing the transmission will fix the problem but it will be expensive and you dont have to if you dont want to.’

What do you do?

Clearly the Bush answer is to make up excuses for why the mechanic didnt know and blame the previous mechanic. As for me, I’d find a different mechanic.

In the meantime, where exactly does the buck stop???

Aaron’s referring to payroll taxes (SS, Medicare), and yes, they won’t be cut. Only Federal taxes are being cut.

But it’s not a bad idea. Any tax cut is a good tax cut. Let’s cut SS and Medicare while we’re at it, give everyone a chance to privatize their SS contributions and save the next generation from bankruptcy. What a noble thought.
