What They're Worth

This graph comes courtesy The Center For Public Integrity's "Buying Of The Presidency" site. Note that John Kerry's net worth is primarily inherited estate.

Kerry’s wealth is inherited, but not by him. ‘Twas inherited by his current wife, a Heinz of catsup fame. The esteemed journalists should press for release of his prenuptial agreement…I bet she has her hands firmly on her Heinz money regardless of ol’ Irish John’s amorous skills!

My net worth is negative right now… :(

I hate that $2.2M like Dean’s worth is represented by only a tiny sliver on a bar graph. I would need a better screen resolution to view my net worth.

And these Dems are the ones who claim to be “battling for the poor” in a way that suggests they “feel their pain”. Most of the politicians who’ve been caught cheating(misusing public paid expense accounts, overdrawing at the capital hill bank, etc) have been Democrats…. Must be their way of recouping some of the tax increases they vote in.

Dick Cheney, how did he get his money, part from Halliburton, the company rebuilding Iraq.

Posted by: sophia at July 11, 2003 06:31 PM

Bush got his money from selling stock in a company he was on the board of, just before it went broke.

Posted by: sophia at July 11, 2003 06:32 PM

Sophia;

Bush and Cheney don’t pretend to identify with the poor, they just try to cut taxes and grow industry so it will create jobs.
The Democrats depend on a welfare state to get votes.
Take the homeless issue for example: They advocate “homeless rights” and self pride for the undomiciled, but you never see them doing anything to create jobs and get them off the street, because having “downtrodden” around to champion is one of the hallmarks of their campaign issues. The same with people on welfare. These are even more important to the Dems, because giving a free living to a voting constituency gets their votes.
They don’t want to kill off a cash crop of voting human beings by improving their lives, they want to keep them exactly where they are.

Posted by: Seth at July 11, 2003 07:55 PM

Sophia: buying stock is a voluntary act, with lots of legal avenues to respond to fraud. Paying taxes is of course involuntary, and devoid of legal recourse.

Gee, I’m up there in the Bob graham range, maybe I should run for President, and I’m just a pig farmer.
I wonder what the peanut farmer was worth when he ran?

Posted by: Bubba at July 12, 2003 02:40 AM

and no, I don’t got alot of cash, just worth.
Tractors are expensive you know.

Posted by: Bubba at July 12, 2003 02:48 AM

Give me a pork roast over twenty peanut butter sandwiches anyday.
Bubba, as Pres, you would give us the good pork, not the empty pork barrel the guy from Georgia produced.

Seth, I’d sure like for you to back up some of your claims.

Here’s one, for instance: “Most of the politicians who’ve been caught cheating(misusing public paid expense accounts, overdrawing at the capital hill bank, etc) have been Democrats…”

Love to see the numbers there; it’s not true just because you say it.

Here’s another: “They advocate “homeless rights” and self pride for the undomiciled, but you never see them doing anything to create jobs and get them off the street”

Surely, if this claim is accurate, you can show me a chart illustrating higher unemployment rates during Democratic presidencies, right?

Then this little tidbit: “Bush and Cheney… just try to cut taxes and grow industry so it will create jobs.”

If that’s so, then you can surely show me an increase in jobs in the three years of this administration, right? They’ve CERTAINLY slashed taxes, so industry should have responded by creating more jobs in America, right?

And finally, “The same with people on welfare. These are even more important to the Dems, because giving a free living to a voting constituency gets their votes.”

I almost let this one speak for itself, but I had a question: is it your contention that Democrats seek to increase things like food aid and medical coverage for impoverished families because of the lower-than-every-other-income-category voter turnout? black widower.

huh?

I like this part of the table.

Note: Voter Turnout 1948 - 2002, Percent Among Demographic Group Who Responded: “Did not vote.”

Of people born BEFORE 1895, 36% did not vote in 1948, 23% in 1952, in 1954 the question was either not asked or was not answered, 24% did not vote in 1956, 33% in 1958, 22% in 1960, 34% in 1962, 23% in 1964, 43% in 1966, 38% in 1968, 39% in 1970, 45% in 1972, 44% in 1974, 53% in 1976, 27% in 1978, 50% in 1980, 57% in 1982, 0% (everyone voted) in 1984, and by 1986 everyone born before 1895 was either dead or incapacitated, as everyone (100%) answered they did not vote. I’m assuming dead since every year after 1986, no one answered the question.

Say someone was born in 1894. By 1900 they’d be 6 years old. By 1920 they’d be 26. By 1940 they’d be 46. By 1948 they’d be 54 years old. What was the life expectancy for that generation?

Then again, the libs like to bring dead people to the polls. And that is documented.

And let’s not forget, these are statistics. A five year old could manipulate statistics to say anything the five year old wanted to say. The smallest group is a mere 50 people. It isn’t difficult to get 50% of 50 people.

If you believe Clinton and his liberal agenda was good for the economy, you are in dire need of a basic economics class. Jobs are being creating in the Bush administration. It just so happens that Clinton’s bubble burst, sending the economy into a tailspin - it started sliding while Clinton was dropping his pants in front of his aids and making fundraising calls from the Whitehouse. Oh, and don’t forget that little terrorist incident in New York and Washington.

The fact is, the economy under Clinton was the result of Reagan’s economic policies come to fruition. The economy just doesn’t change overnight, as President’s do. Jobs are coming back, but jobs are always the final indicator of an improving economy - an economy that was hard hit by both liberal idiotology and devastating terrorist attacks.
